I recently underwent a major operation at Manchester Royal Infirmary for the removal of part of my pancreas. I can only repeat what others have written about Thomas Satyadas regarding his skill and expertise and great professionalism. In addition, his care of me as a patient and his personal interest in my recovery has exceeded all my expectations. I cannot thank him and his marvellous team enough for literally saving my life.

SIx weeks ago I had major liver surgery at the BMI Alexander Hospital under the expert care of Mr Thomas Satyadas and his team, including the Consultant Anaesthetist Dr. D. Pathak whose calm and supportive reassurance prior to surgery was invaluable. My sincere thanks go to Mr Thomas Satyadas for his exceptional professionalism and kindness at every stage of my journey, from my first appointment with him to post surgery. Mr. Satyadas's enormous expertise and calm, reassuring manner in explaining the complexities of my operation gave me the utmost confidence in him. On the day after my major operation Mr. Satyadas visited me and personally walked me around for my first post op exercise. My excellent recovery is a testament to his enormous expertise as a surgeon and post operative support and encouragement. I cannot recommend Thomas highly enough, he is superb and anyone lucky enough to have him as their Consultant Surgeon is extremely fortunate. He is a very special human being.

I had hernia surgery under the care of Mr Thomas Satyadas and his anaesthetist Dr Darshan Pathak at the end of September 2018. My operations were expertly conducted at the Alexandra Hospital and my care was excellent throughout. Two inguinal hernias were repaired with mesh using a laparoscopic technique and an umbilical hernia was fixed at the same time. As an anaesthetist myself, I appreciated a pain free wake up with no nausea or vomiting thanks to the use of local anaesthetic infiltration by the surgeon and the use of oxycodone (as an alternative to morphine) by the anaesthetist. My nursing care on the busy ward was also excellent and the food was good. I was driven home to Yorkshire by my wife later that day. I needed no codeine for post-operative pain relief just paracetamol and the occasional ibuprofen. I was walking around my local park the next day and the wounds healed quickly without infection. In fact I was back at work after one week. I have no hesitation in recommending the whole team and am grateful to Thomas and Darshan for looking after me so well.

Mr Satyadas was the perfect balance of being ultra professional and efficient , as well as kind and caring. Everything was explained to me from the start of my journey and I felt at ease to ask any questions and share any worries. Mr Satyadas led the theatre team and the results following laparoscopic surgery are fantastic. The aftercare went above and beyond, with a focus on avoiding any unnecessary trips to the hospital where possible. However when review and admission was unavoidable , this was handled very effectively by Mr Satyadas in partnership across the surgical team of clinicians, nurses and support staff. Mr Satyadas delivers high quality care , with the patient at the centre of all discussions. He is empathetic, organised and caring and I feel very lucky to have been looked after by him. Thankyou
